What is the definition of Refurbished ? When you start looking on the Web for the definition you will stumble upon a lot of different meanings, some people call it Re-use, Re-manufacturing, Repaired or recycling.

It would be almost better to describe these items as Re-manufactured as it is sent to a manufacturing plant to be revived to the status of “new” or Grade A quality!

The main difference between “refurbished” and “re-used” products is that refurbished products have been tested and verified to function properly, and are thus free of defects, while “re-used” products may or may not be defective.

We address this to increase product longevity; either by extending a product’s first life or addressing issues of repair, reuse and  recycling. Reusing products, and therefore extending the use of that item beyond the point where it is discarded by its first user is preferable to recycling or disposal, as this is the least energy intensive solution, although it is often overlooked. And with this we contribute to the environment !

There are many ways of measuring the positive environmental, economic and social impact data. These include:

# of tons diverted from the landfill
$ avoided disposal costs
$ avoided purchase costs
$ value of materials donated
$ revenues earned
# of jobs created or retained
# of families/individuals/organisations assisted

So why Refurbished products ?
